Understanding Insurance in a Direct-Pay Practice

At Healing Halls, we operate as an independent, self-pay (direct-pay) practice. This allows us to provide personalized, unhurried, and comprehensive psychiatric care tailored entirely to your unique goals—without the restrictions, treatment caps, or mandatory diagnostic disclosures required by traditional insurance panels.

Transparent Pricing

The session fees listed on our practice site represent your direct out-of-pocket investment. There are no hidden fees, surprise facility charges, or unexpected billing add-ons.

Utilizing Out-of-Network Benefits

Even though we are an out-of-network provider, many commercial insurance plans offer out-of-network mental health coverage that can reimburse you for a significant portion of your investment.

You have full flexibility in how you choose to claim your reimbursement:

  • Traditional Superbills: Upon request, we are always happy to provide you with a superbill (an itemized receipt with all necessary diagnostic and billing codes) after your session. You can submit this directly to your insurance company through your provider portal, and they will reimburse you directly per your plan's terms.

  • The Mentaya Option (Optional Resource): To make this process seamless, we also partner with Mentaya, a service that automates out-of-network claims. You are never required to use Mentaya; it is simply an optional tool available on our website if you prefer an automated way to check your benefits instantly and let a dedicated service handle your claim paperwork for you. Please note: Healing Halls receives no financial kickbacks, commissions, or profit from your use of Mentaya—it is provided purely as an independent convenience resource for our clients.

Selecting "Evaluation" refers to the Initial intake. Selecting "Other" refers to the follow- up appointments without the new patient bundle or subscriptions. The subscriptions and bundle services are also eligible for reimbursement from insurance.
